It was a typical day in Turku, Finland in the fall of 2005 when two former co-workers, Marko and Mauri, had a bright idea to start a band. Both had played in a group or two before, but didn't really know what the other one was capable of. Marko gave Mauri some of his songs to look at. After that the planning became more serious and soon it was clear that the world of rock 'n roll would have a new measuring stick. The boys realized that they couldn't do this as a duo so they asked a mutual friend, Markku, to join the band. He was willing to try and that's how it all started.

The next step was to come up with a name for the band. Names were thrown up into the air, but nothing seemed interesting and suitable enough. Then one day Mauri was all hyped up on an actress called Eliza Dushku. That caused Marko to make a joke that the band should be named Eliza's Playground. No one really knew where the playground came from, not even Marko himself, but the name was something different and it felt like it fit the band's image so the guys decided it would be the name of "the world's greatest rock band".

Originally Marko was supposed to be the drummer while Mauri would sing and play the lead guitar and Markku would be the rhythm guitarist. This didn't quite work because Marko's real dream was to be a guitarist. The main reason was the fact that he's not that good of a drummer :). So the band became a three guitar group with no bass or drums (apart from the computer manufactured ones of course). This was in the middle of 2006.

In the early 2007 EPG was supposed to start to record their first cd in a real studio, but due to some scheduling and financial difficulties they had to postpone the studio sessions 'til later time that's yet to be decided. At the same time it became obvious that the group needed some fresh blood and Marko asked Jussi if he would be ready to take on the challenging role of a bass player. Luckily he said yes. But then the inevitable happened and Markku decided to leave the band. He admitted that he had wanted to do that for a long time mainly because of some artistic differences. The departure left no hard feelings on either side.

The search for a drummer started in May of 2007 and after few applicants and try-outs the band found the right man for the job in the fall of the same year. His name is Jussi (yeah, seems to be a pattern with the new dudes...) and everything's going smoothly with the new and improved line-up. So, what about the singer search you ask... Well that's still going on and on and on and on... Let's hope there's light at the end of the tunnel some time soon.

So what does the future hold for Eliza's Playground? We'll let you know when we know...

We love you all, stay safe and have a nice day.
